CHARLES J. MEAKIN, MD, MHA, MS | BOARD-CERTIFIED RADIATION ONCOLOGIST AND METABOLIC HEALTH PHYSICIAN | FOUNDER, METABOLIC CARE
The oncology visit ends. The questions don’t.
What should I eat? Should I take supplements? What are repurposed drugs? Do my lab results reveal anything else? How do sleep, movement, stress, and metabolic health fit into my care—and which strategies are evidence-based?
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, iRise Above Foundation is going beyond awareness to explore the questions women are often left to navigate on their own.
Join Charles J. Meakin, MD, MHA, MS, for a candid, evidence-informed conversation about how repurposed medications, supplements, metabolic health, and lifestyle strategies may thoughtfully complement standard breast cancer care.
Dr. Meakin is a board-certified radiation oncologist and metabolic health physician with more than 35 years of experience caring for people with cancer, including 24 years as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at CaroMont Cancer Center. After decades in the clinic, he saw that patients’ most pressing questions—about food, supplements, lab results, and daily life—often fell outside traditional cancer treatment decisions and the time available during an oncology appointment. He founded Metabolic Care to help fill that gap.
During the conversation, Dr. Meakin will explore:
How to remove fear from the treatment-decision process
The multiple drivers of cancer-management outcomes—the “Big 6”
What repurposed drugs are and why they are being explored in cancer care
The potential roles and limitations of supplements
How nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and metabolic health fit into the larger picture
Building an “insurance policy” with repurposed drugs, supplements, and lifestyle modifications alongside standard care
What he is excited about and expects to see in the coming year
The program will begin with a brief overview from Dr. Meakin, followed by a conversation moderated by iRise Above Founder and CEO Gillian Lichota and a live audience Q&A.
Come curious. Bring questions that don’t fit in a typical oncology appointment.
